Let’s face it, life can be hard. Really hard.

Jennifer Conte

Hi, I’m Jen! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Liverpool, New York. My practice specializes in individual counseling for younger adults (aged 18-40) who are struggling with generalized or social anxiety, or who need support adjusting to various life transitions. I also work with people who just need a little extra support to reach their personal growth goals and cope with everyday stressors.

I specialize in using evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions to treat anxiety and improve overall mood. Whether you’ve been struggling with anxiety for years or struggling to cope with a new life change, I’ve got you!

Maybe you’re…

  • A recent college graduate or young adult who is having a challenging time adjusting to “adulting” and all the new responsibilities and decisions that you’re now faced with (by the way, there are a LOT!). Your self-confidence has taken a hit, and you find yourself second-guessing your choices and doubting your capabilities.

  • Experiencing some relationship issues with the people in your life. Maybe you’re experiencing grief from a recent breakup with your partner or the deterioration of a longstanding friendship. Or perhaps you’re struggling to implement boundaries with an overbearing family member (we all have those!). Your friends and family try their best to help but you really just need a neutral person to talk things through with.

  • Feeling overwhelmed trying to balance the demands of work and home life. It feels like you can never do enough and everyone always needs something from you. You often find yourself spiraling with the “what ifs” and negative self-talk. You find it hard to shut your brain off and relax even when you have downtime. Many days you wake up dreading the day and wondering how you’ll ever make it through.

I hear you. I can help.

We all struggle from time to time with life’s challenges and it’s completely normal to need support. Enduring a new life change such as the ending of a relationship or moving to a new city or state can be overwhelming and scary. Even positive life events such as getting married, having children, graduating from college, or getting promoted at work can be stressful! My focus is to help you build resilience and navigate life’s challenges with more confidence.

Together, we’ll challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking and coping that keep you trapped from being the person you want to be. We’ll build up your toolbox of coping skills so that you are well-equipped for whatever life throws your way. You’ll learn to adjust to change in healthier ways, better manage stress and anxiety, and set healthy boundaries for your relationships. My focus is helping you reach your goals so that you can live your best life because you deserve that!

We can talk more about the process and I can answer any questions you may have.

Have you been to therapy before?

If no, welcome! I understand that searching for a therapist can be an overwhelming process. With so many therapists out there, how do you know who to choose? That’s not an easy question to answer. However, you landed here for a reason. Something about my page may have connected with you, and that’s certainly a good place to start.

If yes, how was your past experience? Did you experience the change you wanted to see? If not, perhaps you haven’t yet connected with the right therapist for you. Or maybe you were not ready for change or didn’t have the energy to do the work at the time. Either way, give therapy a chance. Your next experience could be very different.
