Let’s face it, life can be hard. Really hard.

Jennifer Conte

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. You probably stumbled along my page because you’re experiencing some challenges or changes in your life, and you’re not feeling your best. With challenges and change comes uncertainty, and with uncertainty there can be anxiety, stress, and self-doubt. We all struggle from time to time with life’s challenges, and it’s completely normal to need support. The fact that you’re looking for a therapist shows that you’ve recognized something in your life needs to change, and you’re actively taking a step towards helping yourself. Good for you!

Maybe you’re…

  • A recent college graduate or young adult who is having a challenging time adjusting to “adulting” and all the new responsibilities and decisions that you’re now faced with (by the way, there are a LOT!). Your self-confidence has taken a hit, and you find yourself second guessing your choices and doubting your capabilities.
  • In your late 20’s or 30’s and struggling to figure out what you want this next chapter of life to look like: Should I change careers? Is this relationship healthy for me? Have I outgrown my childhood friendships? How do I set better boundaries at work or with my family?
  • Experiencing some relationship issues with the people in your life. Maybe you’re recently married and experiencing the stress of merging two lives together. Or maybe you’re experiencing grief from a recent break up or the deterioration of a friendship. Perhaps you’re estranged from a family member. Your friends and family try their best to help, but you really just need a neutral person to talk things through with.
  • A working parent or a hardworking professional who is feeling completely overwhelmed trying to balance the demands of work and home life. It feels like everyone always needs something from you. Your anxiety and stress is through the roof, and you wake up each morning dreading the day and wondering how you’ll ever make it through.

I hear you. I can help.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State. My practice specializes in individual counseling for younger adults in their 20’s and 30’s who are feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, or need support navigating a variety of life changes or stressors. These stressors could be related to college, work, family, or relationships, to name a few. I have a special interest in helping young adults experiencing “high functioning anxiety” build their self-confidence and self-esteem. I also work with people who are functioning pretty well, and just need a little extra support dealing with everyday issues.

Feeling calm, confident, and becoming more resilient in the face of stressors is completely possible. I hope that therapy will be a safe space for you to process your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I will work collaboratively with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that best reflects your individual goals.

Together, we’ll challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking and coping that keep you trapped from being the person you want to be. We’ll build up your toolbox of coping skills so that you are well-equipped for whatever life throws your way. You’ll learn to adjust to change in healthier ways, better manage stress and anxiety, and set healthy boundaries for your relationships. My focus is helping you reach your goals so that you can live your best life, because you deserve that!

We can talk more about the process and I can answer any questions you may have.

Have you been to therapy before?

If no, welcome! I understand that searching for a therapist can be an overwhelming process. With so many therapists out there, how do you know who to choose? That’s not an easy question to answer. However, you landed here for a reason. Something about my page may have connected with you, and that’s certainly a good place to start.

If yes, how was your past experience? Did you experience the change you wanted to see? If not, perhaps you haven’t yet connected with the right therapist for you. Or maybe you were not ready for change or didn’t have the energy to do the work at the time. Either way, give therapy a chance. Your next experience could be very different.
